About This Project
Shortly after moving into this home, our client wanted to add space and create a custom game room, pool, and courtyard space. They plan to entertain significantly, and wanted a high-performance space that they could be proud of. We integrated quality electronics into a professionally designed space, with culminated in a comfortable environment with plenty of entertainment options. The 9 video screens combine to provide a 138″ TV with flawless picture, and incredible surround sound performance. This entertainment can be taken outside with the cleverly hidden rock speakers throughout the property, and outdoor WiFi to allow everything to be controlled with iPads and iPhones from anywhere in or out of the home via the Savant Control Systems. Integration of the lighting control, climate control, and audio video into a central app, provides simple control and convenience.

About This Project
This was a most unique project for us because it was part of an older MDU building which had a lot of character and building restrictions. One of the biggest challenges was working our client’s desires for a nicely integrated home into the restrictions of the building, while being respectful of the neighbors. Specifically, this building does not allow any speakers in the ceiling, all wiring had to be run in fire-rated conduit and fire-stopped on either ends, any devices installed in walls adjoining units had to be fire-rated. We also had to be considerate of the very elaborate design elements throughout the home, including pre-finished wood panel walls, intricate wall paper, millwork and luxurious natural stone. This well-known building is home to many different units, and this client made the decision to combine two adjacent units into one large “flat” designed for luxury living with an open floorplan. Technology in these units was non-existent prior to our work, so we had to run new infrastructure for data, voice, video, WiFi, and audio. The client’s requests included a system that was simple to operate, elegantly integrated, and with the best performance that we could attain given the limitations of the property. Our creative solutions included a motorized articulating mount for the TV and sound bar over the fireplace, flush mounting nearly all the TVs in the walls, flush mounting an in-ceiling subwoofer cleverly into the fireplace cavity to allow it to perform as an in-wall subwoofer in a small space, and installing speakers low throughout the property, fully invisible behind wallpaper, or into cabinets where available, to allow for other design elements to sparkle. The designer then had the speakers faux painted to nearly disappear. The result is a project that the client is proud of, is simple to operate, and integrates (4) TVs, (2) Apple TVs, (1) BluRay player, and (3) Cable boxes, shared through the custom AV distribution. The audio for the video sources, along with an available (3) streams of cloud music, can be shared to any of the (2) surround sound rooms, or (6) stereo listening areas. Integrated into the control system is the security alarm, surveillance camera, lighting, and motorized shades. The building uses a passive ventilation system and with its beach-side local, it does not have any climate control. Clean lines and technology blended with the environment is what sets this project apart, and it is a huge change from the two separate condo units with their dated look.

About This Project
When this client approached us with this project, it was considered a significant challenge. The house was in the final stages of completion, with all the wiring run by a company that is used to doing track homes, not full custom builds. In a project of this caliber, good wiring means the difference between a life of pleasure and entertainment or headaches. We made it all work for the better, providing a user-friendly and customizable entertainment and automation experience. No room was spared in the attention to detail, with lighting control and music spread throughout, and nearly all rooms getting a dedicated television. All of the TVs can view content from the shared 400 Disc BluRay changer, Apple TV, Roku, Xbox 360, and Two HD Tivo Elite Boxes. The house music needs are served by the Sonos integration with Control4, which allows them to play various Internet Radio sources, including Pandora. An AM/FM tuner with dual streams and an iPod dock also round out the music options. The Lighting Control, Audio/Video, Climate Control, Front Door lock, Motorized Shades, and Gate Entry system are integrated to function as a cohesive system. This way the client can press one button in the morning and enjoy a preset lighting scene, comfort controls, and the morning news at a comfortable volume. He can rest easy knowing the front door is locked and the garage door is closed, since his system provides the status of these areas. Overall, the client is pleased that we took his desires for complex automation, and made them simple enough to use everyday by anyone. Oh yeah, letting a guest into the house remotely from his iPhone is pretty cool too!

About This Project
This project was put together with the client’s desire for high-quality music, along with his demand for a beautiful and functional outdoor space. Working with the landscape contractor, we blended the rock speakers into the soft-scape and the technology into the BBQ area hard-scape. This provided the necessary protection from the elements that we needed, while allowing the TV to be viewed from nearly anywhere in the space. The client can enjoy iPod or CDs around the pool, firepit, or spa, while the ball game plays clearly at the Bar area. Or, the same great music can be enjoyed by everyone at the same time, controlled very simply with a custom wireless remote.
